  • COVID-19 Daily Report

    Thursday, August 13:

    Cobb and Douglas Public Health has released a new daily report to keep the public informed on how COVID-19 has affected Cobb and Douglas Counties.

    In this report you will find information on the total confirmed COVID-19 cases (individuals who tested positive), hospitalizations, deaths attributed to COVID-19 and testing data in Cobb and Douglas counties. Data will be updated at the end of each day.

    Additionally, data is based on available information at the time of the report and may not reflect current case status. You will also find data on populations that are especially vulnerable to the virus and our recommended protocol for keeping our residents safe.

  • Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival Rescheduled

    Thursday, August 13:

    Based on the latest information regarding the Coronavirus, the 2020 Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival, Garden Tour and Flower Show scheduled for June 6 and 7, 2020 has been rescheduled to the first full weekend in June of 2021 (June 5 and 6). In the meantime, if you or anyone you know, may have a garden suitable to showcase during future garden tours, please contact Douglas County Museum of History and Art at 678-449-3939.     The I-285/I-20 West Interchange project proposes improvements of the I-285/I-20 West interchange and addition of lanes along I-20 in Cobb, Douglas and Fulton counties.

    1. Adds new lane miles along I-20 and I-285

    2. Constructs collector-distributor (CD) lanes that run parallel to the interstate and help improve traffic flow, speed and safety

    3. Provides more efficient traffic flow and operational/ safety performance enhancements

Join Douglas County's Senior Services highly motivated group of volunteers and staff that serve 150 clients each day, Monday through Friday.     Tallatoona is accepting appointment for the LIHEAP CARES Cooling Program. All households that did not receive LIHEAP CARES cooling assistance during the month of July 2020 are eligible to apply for assistance with their electric bill.   • Douglas County Public Libraries Drive-up Services

    Thursday, August 13:

    Douglas County Libraries are offering temporary drive-up services during the new modified hours. Patrons may request books, movies, and document printing. To print materials, call your library and they will provide you with an email address and printing costs. Residents may not request more than ten items at a time. Staff guarantee items will be available one hour later upon request. The drive-up service is intended to provide as many library services as possible during this pandemic.

  • Connect Douglas Offers Routes to Summer Fun

    All Summer fun seekers can ride the Connect Douglas Route 40 to Six Flags Over Georgia in the morning, spend a day of excitement, then return to Douglasville. The most convenient location to board the Route 40 bus is the Transportation Center at 8800 Dorris Rd. Douglasville, GA. Parents, children, and park goers can also skip the hassle of parking – park for free at the Douglas County Transportation Center! Connect Douglas operates four fixed bus routes including the Route 40 servicing Six Flags Over Georgia. Each of the operating buses are fully equipped with free Wi-Fi and security cameras for riders. Route 10 and Route 20 serve downtown Douglasville and the Highway 5/Stewart Parkway/Douglas Boulevard/Hospital Drive area. Route 30 serves Thornton Road south of I-20 and Riverside Drive west to American Red Cross and Tributary. Route 40 serves downtown Lithia Springs and connects the Douglasville Routes 10 and 20 to the Thornton Road/Riverside Route 30. Route 40 also connects with CobbLinc to provide access to the Atlanta H.E. Holmes MARTA station.

  • Douglas County Public Libraries Modified Hours

    Thursday, August 13:

    The Douglas County Public Libraries are open but under specific guidelines and temporary modified hours. The libraries are closed on Mondays and Wednesdays for sanitizing. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the libraries are open from 9am-10am for vulnerable patrons, 10am-6pm for all patrons. On Fridays, the libraries are open 9am-10am for vulnerable patrons, 10am-4pm for all patrons. Masks are required while in the building and your temperature will be checked before entry. Public computers and study room are unavailable at this time. Curbside services and wireless printing will continue to be available.

    The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2020 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 32.96 percent.

  • American Red Cross Community Blood Drive

    American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive for the Douglas County Community at Hunter Park's Community Center on August 20 from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Everyone is required to wear a face covering or mask while at the drive in alignment with new CDC public guidelines.     The Communications and Community Relations Department has decided to produce four virtual September Saturdays show celebrations instead of celebrating in our traditional way on the courthouse grounds to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Starting on September 5th, these celebrations will air each Saturday in the month of September at 7 p.m. on Dctv23. Each show will have a specific theme and consist of multiple interviews, music performances, and special guests. More details to come!     The Douglasville Police Department, in partnership with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, is sponsoring a Jamboree at our “House of Hope” located at 8304 Hollis Street, Douglasville, GA, on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 1pm - 6pm.
