Jailer 1, Sheriff's Department
Part-time, $14.70 per hour, no benefits
providing security duties and enforcing order and discipline among prisoners at the County Jail. Work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 12 noon
requires POST certification as a Jailer or ability to obtain one within 6 months, High School Diploma/GED, minimum 19 years old, valid Driver's License with satisfactory record

Underway: Mosquito Spraying in Douglas County
The Douglas County DOT's Maintenance Division will be proactively spraying for mosquitoes from May - September. All spraying will be done between 6 - 10 p.m., the most active time for mosquitoes, Sundays - Thursdays.

Please do your part! Please empty anything from your yard that can collect stormwater so that the mosquitoes cannot find anywhere to lay their eggs!



Now: Summer Outdoor Burning Ban in Effect
Douglas County is included in the outdoor burning ban enacted by the State of Georgia for 54 counties. The outdoor burning ban is in effect until September 30th. The Douglas County Fire/EMS Department will not be issuing any outdoor burning permits during this time period, and will locally enforcing the State declaration.

The ban does not apply to cooking and grilling outdoors. Campfires and BBQs are also exempt. The ban does include household garbage, yard and land-clearing debris.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is considering calling for a referendum in the November 8th General Election for a one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for capital improvements and construction projects. If called and approved by the voters, the SPLOST would be for 6 years beginning April 2017 and is estimated to bring in $160 million.

The BOC is asking for input/project ideas from the Public during a series of meeting, as follows:
