  • "The 'I Am...' Project" Girls Mentoring Program

    Every Tuesday, 2:00 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.

    Calling all 7th, 8th and 9th grade girls to reserve their spot to be part of an enlightening experience as they embark on a journey to find self acceptance, purpose, and inner peace. This mentoring program is presented by PlayTime: A Therapy Center, 2262 Fairburn Road, Douglasville, GA 30135 and will take place every Tuesday starting June 12th and continue until July 17th.

  • Kids Drone Squad Summer Squad

    Thursday, June 21 - Friday, August 31:

    Registration for Drone Squad Summer session is now open. Summer session will be from June through August. Douglas County Parks and Rec (DCPR) has partnered with KidsDroneZone.org and is offering a Premium Technology Program at Deer Lick Park for scholars grades 3-11. Drone Squad is a STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering, Aviation, and Mathematics) Hands on Project Based Technology Program. During Think Tank Sessions, scholars will learn to Build, Code, and Fly Drones. Learn about Unmanned System Careers in a challenging environment. This technology program encompasses Safety and Regulation, Theory Training, Navigation and Planning, Aviation, Chemistry, and Electrical Principles, Practical, Meteorology, Field Trips, Research Papers, and Class Room Without Walls. Think Tank Sessions are $40/month, two Sundays//per month, from 4pm to 6pm.

  • Casting Family Event TV Show in Georgia

    Thursday, June 21 - Saturday, June 30:

    A major cable network needs your help! If you are in the pre-planning stages of a large scale event, family reunion, birthday party, and anniversary. You may have the opportunity for casting. The network is looking for events that are being planned within the State of Georgia in the months of July, August, or October 2018.   • Douglas County Challengers Baseball for Special Needs Children

    Thursday, June 21 - Wednesday, October 31:

    The Douglas County Challengers are a baseball team of children with special needs that are physically and/or mentally challenged. The children range in age from 5 - 21 years. The Challengers play every Saturday morning during the Spring and Fall seasons. Spring season is April, May and June and Fall season is September and October. The games are played at Beulah Ruritan Park, 3655 McKown Road. Registration is not limited to a particular time as children will be accepted at any time during either Spring or Fall seasons. The parents are not required to pay a registration fee. The Challenger team is funded by sponsors in order to provide uniforms and necessities, even the trophies are donated so there is no cost to the family of the players.

  • Douglas County Citizen's Academy Applications now available

    Thursday, June 21 - Wednesday, June 27:

    The Douglas County Department of External Affairs is now accepting applications for the Douglas County Citizen’s Academy through June 27, 2018. The Douglas County Citizen’s Academy is a 10-week interactive program offered once a year that encourages civic engagement and enhances dialog between county officials and citizens. The Citizen’s Academy meets once a week on Tuesday evenings from July 10, 2018-September 11, 2018.

    The Douglas County Task Force on Family Violence and Sexual Assault is in need of volunteers. Interested candidates will serve as volunteer advocates on our Domestic Assault Response Team and Sexual Assault Response Team.   • The Great Douglas County Shredding Event

    Douglas County residents will have the opportunity to bring their personal documents, tax records, and financial reports to the Douglas County Courthouse for shredding done by A1 Shredding and Recycling Company.   • New Manchester Day

    Saturday, June 23, 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.:

    This living history event will bring to life the New Manchester Community that prospered up to the end of the Civil War. Visit a Civil War-era encampment, take a historical tour to the New Manchester Mill, and learn about Civil War-era uniforms and firearms during black powder demonstrations and infantry drilling. Location: Sweetwater Creek State Park, 1750 Mount Vernon Rd, Lithia Springs, GA. It'll be $5 for parking.

  • Candlelight Hike to the Mill

    Saturday, June 23, 9:00 p.m.- 10:30 p.m.:

    This mile-long guided night hike led by “The Friends of Sweetwater Creek State Park” is moderately difficult and goes down to and inside the Civil War era textile mill ruins of the five story New Manchester mill alongside the beautiful rapids of Sweetwater Creek. Candle lanterns are provided. No children under 6 years or dogs permitted. No reservations are possible. Meet and pay (cash only, exact change please) in the Visitor’s Center parking lot. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required. The cost is $5 plus $5 for parking. The hike will take place at Sweetwater Creek State Park, 1750 Mount Vernon Rd, Lithia Springs, GA.

The Comprehensive Land Use Plan is a guide for the future of Douglas County. This plan will serve as a blueprint for development and growth over the next 20 years. The second meeting regarding the Comprehensive Land Use Plan is scheduled for July 19th at 6 p.m. as well at the Douglasville Conference Center, 6700 Church Street.
