  • Aviation Explorer and Drone Squad Registration

    Thursday, January 16 - Thursday, January 30:

    Registration for Aviation Explorer and Drone Squad is currently open. This is a hand-on no sit down fully engaged program. There are VERY limited slots available. This aviation program runs from January through May 2020. Douglas County Parks and Rec (DCPR) has partnered with KidsDroneZone.org who is offering a Premium Technology Aviation Program at Deer Lick Park for scholars’ grades 4 to 12. Drone Squad is a STEAM Aviation Hands-on. Project Based Technology Program. During Think Tank Sessions, scholars will engage in drone building, drone coding, and drone flying. Scholars will also participate in Aviation Ground School, Aviation field trips, and take an orientation flight in a plane, and an international research project, and Aerial Cinematography. Scholars will also engage in Aerial Sport Games of which the object is to knock your opponent out of the sky. Scholars will learn about Unmanned System Careers in a challenging environment. Think Tank Sessions are $50/month, two Sundays//per month, from 4pm to 6pm in addition to registration fees. Registration opens: November 1st.

  • CAC: Black History Month "Through the Years" Exhibit and Reception

    Thursday, January 16 - Thursday, February 20, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.:

    CAC will be celebrating artists of color in January and February with an exhibit called "Through the Years" starting on January 9th and continue until February 20th. The opening reception hosted by Douglas County Connection is on January 25, 2020. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

  • MLK Day of Service

    Monday, January 20, 9:00 a.m.:

    Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, 'Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?' Join Keep Douglasville Beautiful for a day on, not off. We will honor and celebrate MLK Day by beautifying Douglas County High School with the planting of 63 trees. This event is open to the public. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, shovels, hard rakes and pitchforks if they have them. Please meet at 9:00am at Douglas County High School.

    The Douglasville Police Department invites everyone to fellowship together while discussing topics impacting our community. Discussions are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month and we go out into the community on the 4th Thursday of the month (No fourth Thursday in November or December).   • Alexander High School Soccer Camp

    Saturday, January 25, 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.:

    Alexander High School is proud to host their annual one day soccer camp on January 25, 2020 from 1pm to 4pm. This camp is perfect for preseason at an affordable price for children in grades K-8 (Boys and girls). The cost to participate is $28. The price includes: A t-shirt (if registered by January 20 at noon) and a $10 discount to next summer's soccer camp. Coaches: USSF Licensed and Georgia Certified Coaches with decades of experience. The coaches will be assisted by current AHS players. At times it will look like each player has a personal coach. HOW COOL IS THAT! The rain date is Saturday February 1, 2020.

    Asa Music Production,Inc Sponsor, of "The West Side Winds Jazz Orchestra", needs to fill positions for the 2020 performance season. Asa Music Production ,Inc produces 3-4 shows yearly using the orchestra and local professional vocalist,primarily at Southwest Arts Center Theater in southwest Atlanta. These are paid ticketed performances and compensation is based on ticket sales. If you are interested, interviews and auditions will take place at the first rehearsal on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 7:00 PM.   • Beyond the Front Porch February Field Trip

    Saturday, February 8:

    Join Beyond the Front Porch, Saturday February 8th, the nation’s largest civil rights museum which boasts 58000 square feet of archives, galleries, community meeting rooms and exhibit space. The museum depicts the struggles of the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. We will complete a scavenger hunt to learn about the powerful history of this museum. The admission, transportation and lunch are FREE for the students as long as a paid adult is traveling with them. If the adult pays $25 they can carry up to 5 students at NO CHARGE. Seats are filled on a first pay basis so pay to confirm your seat TODAY! Reserved seats will increase to $30 if you register after February 1st.

  • Citizens’ Law Enforcement Academy Registration

    Thursday, February 20 - Tuesday, April 14, 6:00 p.m.:

    The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office hosts a 12 week course as a way for the community to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the DCSO works. The next round of classes starts on February 20, 2020, at 6:30pm at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 8470 Earl D. Lee Blvd. on the second floor. Dinner will be provided starting at 6:00pm. The course is free, but they ask that those who are interested be able to attend all twelve weeks. The goal is not to teach attendees how to become law enforcement officers or pressure them into a career in law enforcement, but rather to give them some insight into the duties and responsibilities of our personnel. Applicants must be a resident or business owner in Douglas County, be at least 21 years of age, and give consent for a background check as part of the application process. More information about the Citizens’ Law Enforcement Academy and a link to the application can be found on our website. They have also shared information about the program on our social media platforms. There will be applications available in our lobby if anyone wants to stop by and fill one out.

  • Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy Registration

    We are now registering for our spring session of the Douglasville Police Department Citizens Law Enforcement Academy. Come learn how your police department works. The class teaches what officers do on a day-to-day basis. The class begins February 25 and we are registering through February 7th. All registrants need to be able to commit to attending the 10 sessions on Tuesday nights from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. There is NO FEE for this class. You must be 18 years of age and give consent for a background check. Dinner is provided. **During the week of Douglas County Spring Break April 6-10, there will not be a class**
