Douglas County Parks and Recreation (DCPR) has partnered with KidsDroneZone.org and is offering a Premium Technology Program at Deer Lick Park for scholars grades 3-11. Registration is now open! Drone Squad is a STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering, Aviation, and Mathematics) Hands on Project Based Technology Program. During Think Tank Sessions, scholars will learn to Build, Code, and Fly Drones. Think Tank Sessions are $40/month, two Sundays per month, from 4pm to 6pm.

Be sure to attend the Papyrus: The Art of Paper Gallery Exhibit from April 5th to April 25th during normal business hours at the Cultural Arts Council Center, 8652 Campbellton Street. Paper has been used throughout history in the creation of artwork. Papyrus showcases artwork made out of paper in several different ways. Featuring artists Alaina Lyle, Marisa Ginger Tontaveetong, Jasmine Williams, Riley Mayhem, Robert Thompson, and Tracie Joyner.
Midway Christian Academy is now registering for the 2018-2019 school year. We are a half-day preschool, meeting from 9 am to 12 pm, Monday through Friday. Grief Share is a support group that helps with the grieving process of the losing a loved one. Meetings are held on Fridays from 2 pm to 4pm at Midway United Methodist Church annex at 1950 Midway Rd, Douglasville. Free and light refreshments provided.

Up By The Bootstraps, Inc. is hosting a SAT Prep Session for the May 5, 2018 Test. Classes will be held over 3 Saturdays: April 14, 2018, April 21, 2018 & April 28, 2018. The course is 9 hours, so participants must attend all 3 days, from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, with check in beginning at 8:30 am. A Tiny Fundraiser is an annual fundraiser exhibit and sale where artists create and donate 6×6 inch square original work to the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County, which are sold for $20 each. This exhibit will help promote YOUR art, offer collectors an affordable means to start an art collection or add to an existing collection, promote your artwork with chances for future commissions, and provide financial support to the Cultural Arts Council. It is free to enter artwork into the fundraiser. Deliver your artwork to the Cultural Arts Center, 8652 Campbellton Street.

Harvester Christian Academy's Gala and Auction will be held on April 26 at 6 pm at the Douglasville Conference Center, 6700 Church Street. Proceeds will benefit the school's STEM certification process by providing the equipment and training required. Guest speaker will be former NFL wide receiver, Roy Hall. Don't miss this fun event supporting the awareness of domestic violence. Courses are on the beautiful trails at Boundary Waters Park (5000 Highway 92), and benefits SHARE House Inc. The Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority is hosting the Bear Creek Water Treatment Plant Open House on Saturday, April 28th from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be a fun, free, and educational event for all ages. Meet the professionals, enjoy Children's STEM activities, Touch-A-Truck, rain barrel raffles, games, and more! This event is open to anyone in the Douglas County community interested in water resources. The open house will take place at 4930 Gray Road.
Bentley's Pet Things is hosting Pet Fun Adoption Day at the Douglas County Animal Shelter on April 28th from 1 pm to 4 pm. The 4th Annual Youth Business Shark Tank will take place on April 28th at 6 pm at New Manchester High School Theater, 4925 GA-92. The event will consists of phenomenal performances and community awards. V-103 News Anchor Maria Boynton, Sheriff Tim Pounds, and Pastor Dave Derrive and more will be honored. Performances will include the singing sensation In Tone Nation and New Manchester FAME Dance Team. Admission is free.

The Douglas County Master Gardeners are busy preparing vegetables, herbs, and numerous other plants for their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 5, 2018. DCMG is a non-profit organization and this is the only fundraiser each year. The sale will take place next to Woodie Fite Senior Center at 8720 Dorris Road. This event is free and open to the public.

The Douglas County Special Olympics is hosting their annual car show on May 5th from 10 am to 2 pm at Arbor Place Mall in the Sears parking lot, 6700 Douglas Boulevard. The show is open to all cars, trucks, and bikes! Trophies will be awarded for top three in each class and all judging will be done by Special Olympics athletes. T-Shirts are included as part of the $20.00 vehicle registration. Registration Fees received after March 30th are $25.00. All proceeds benefit Douglas County Special Olympics, made possible by the Douglas County Special Olympics Therapeutic Board and Douglas County Parks and Recreation. There will be FREE ADMISSION for spectators.

Come enjoy the talents of Douglas County students at a community concert featuring performances from all five high schools. Help raise funds for the Douglas County Education Foundation and the music programs at our high schools. The tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children. Genius Summer Camp: STEM Enrichment for Kindergarten through 9th grade with morning and afternoon sessions held in June and July at the Douglasville Conference Center, 6701 Church Street. The 11th annual Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival is happening on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Douglas County Courthouse in Douglasville, GA. This nationally-recognized festival has a number of events and exhibits, many of which are free. Mail boxes, lamp posts, doors, etc. are decorated with hydrangea-colored ribbons, flowers, and wreaths. Free shuttles are provided for in-town events. Free parking is provided at Douglas County High School, the Courthouse located on Hospital Drive, and the downtown parking garage.

Keep Douglasville Beautiful is asking all Douglas County residents and businesses to decorate their mailboxes, lampposts, gates, fences, trees, signs, and doorways in festive hydrangea blossoms, ribbons, and colors to welcome guests and Hydrangea festival attendees to our community. This year’s Hydrangea Festival is June 2-3 weekend and the theme is “Passport to Cityline”. Entries for the contest should be submitted to Keep Douglasville Beautiful no later than Sunday, May 27, 2018 by midnight. The entries can be e-mail to info@KeepDouglasvilleBeautiful.org, mailed to PO Box 219, Douglasville, GA 30133 or dropped off at City Hall. The Kiwanis Club of Douglas County presents the 24th Annual Triathlon, Duathlon, 5k at Sweetwater Creek state Park on Sunday, June 3 at Sweetwater Creek State Park. The triathlon will begin with a 200yd swim, 10 mile asphalt bike ride, and finish with a 5k road and trail run. The duathlon will begin with a 5k road/trail run, 10 mile asphalt bike ride, and end with the 5k trail/road run. The 5k Fun Run will be road and trail. Awards will be given for overall winners and top three in each age group, per race.

The CDF Golf Tournament raises funds for scholarships, college tours and other outings for Kappa League participants. The Community Diamonds Foundation (CDF) is a 501-3(c), and all contributions are tax deductible.
