  • Presidential Primary Set for June 9th

    Tuesday, June 9 - Tuesday, June 9, 7:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.:

    In light of the public health emergency posed by COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that the presidential primary rescheduled for May 19th has been delayed to Tuesday, June 9th.

  • Midway Christian Academy Open Enrollment

    Thursday, June 4 - Monday, August 10:

    Midway Christian Academy is now enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year, which will begin on August 10, 2020. Midway Christian Academy are a half day private preschool, with classes Monday and Thursday for toddlers who are 1 year old by September 1, 2020; preschool classes for 2 and 3 year olds three or five days per week; and a well recognized Pre-K program for children who are 4 years old by September 1st. Midway Christian Academy is located at 1930 Midway Rd. Douglasville, Ga.

  • CAC: Douglas County Art Guild Bi-annual Exhibit

    Thursday, June 4 - Thursday, June 25:

    The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County presents Douglas County Art Guild biannual exhibit featuring members once again for one of their most anticipated receptions of the year. View local art of various art forms in this collection of work dear to Douglas County’s own heart. Due to Covid-19 circumstances, the Cultural Arts Council will make the exhibit accessible to the community in the comfort of their homes. Join the CAC as they navigate a new way to showcase artwork amidst changing regulations. Throughout May, we will publicize artist interviews recorded within the center. Follow us on our social media platforms to hear in-depth discussions about art making, and check our website for updates at Artsdouglas.org. The CAC will continue to evaluate protocol during this time to determine a postponement date for a reception in June, hosted by Sweetwater Camera Club, where we can gather in person to appreciate art once again and cherish our local artists.

  • 2020 Douglas County Citizen's Academy Accepting Applications

    Thursday, June 4 - Monday, June 15:

    The Douglas County Department of External Affairs is now accepting applications for the 2020 Douglas County Citizen’s Academy. The Douglas County Citizen’s Academy is a 10-week interactive program offered once a year that encourages civic engagement and enhances dialog between county officials and citizens. The Citizen’s Academy meets once a week on Tuesday evenings and is scheduled tentatively to begin June 2, 2020 and may be subject to change do to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. #DCPublicEngagement #DCCitizensAcademy2020

    As the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/ Douglas County (CAC) continues to monitor Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments closely, the health and well-being of our community and members is of utmost importance to us.The CAC Executive Board convened to discuss how to proceed with the CAC events and the COVID-19 outbreak. As of right now, Taste of Douglasville has been postponed from May 18, 2020 and being rescheduled for July 18, 2020. The CAC will continue to keep our vendors and community informed on the latest news and facts surrounding Taste of Douglasville and work to send out communication as it is deemed relevant, timely and beneficial.   • Douglas County Chamber: Apply for Top Ten Young Professionals of 2020

    Thursday, June 4 - Wednesday, July 1:

    The Top Ten Young Professionals of 2020 is a recognition presented by the DC Chamber’s Advancing Modern Professionals in Douglas (AMP’D). Advancing Modern Professionals in Douglas is a program of the Douglas County Chamber Foundation. The mission of AMP’D is attracting emerging professionals to engage, develop, and serve in Douglas County. Top Ten Applicants must complete the following: Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in the community, demonstrate excellence, leadership, creativity and initiative in her/his business or profession, must be affiliated with a DC Chamber member business or organization, must be between the ages of 21 and 40 years old as of the submission deadline: Wednesday, July 1, 2020. The individual does NOT have to be a member of Advancing Modern Professionals in Douglas (AMP’D). Past Top Ten Young Professional winners may apply if the age requirement is met. However, individuals are not eligible to receive consecutive awards (i.e. if you were a TTYP in 2019, you are not eligible).
