  • Kids Drone Squad

    Wednesday, February 14 - Monday, December 31:

    Douglas County Parks and Recreation (DCPR) has partnered with KidsDroneZone.org and is offering a Premium Technology Program at Deer Lick Park for scholars grades 3-11. Registration is now open! Drone Squad is a STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering, Aviation, and Mathematics) Hands on Project Based Technology Program. During Think Tank Sessions, scholars will learn to Build, Code, and Fly Drones. Think Tank Sessions are $40/month, two Sundays per month, from 4pm to 6pm.

  • Homeless Drive at the Transportation Center

    Thursday, March 1 - Saturday, March 17, 5:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.:

    Rideshare is hosting a homeless drive from March 1st to March 17th. Donations can be dropped off at the Transportation Center, 8800 Dorris Road. Rideshare are taking donations for hygiene items such as deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, combs, hairbrushes and toilet paper. Other donations can include gently used jackets, socks, tarps, umbrellas, ponchos, bottled water and batteries.

  • Champ's Clock Shop Presents Chimes of a Thousand Clocks

    Saturday, March 10, 12:00 p.m.- 12:00 p.m.:

    Chimes of a Thousand Clocks is a daylight savings time spring forward annual event. It begins with the gentle ticking of majestic Grandfather Clocks, wagging tails and eyes of classic Kit-Cat clocks and suddenly the first Cuckoo calls from a distance. The rich gongs, bells, and chimes begin to swell with an added blend of musical animated and nostalgic tones of time telling history, slowly filling the room. Light refreshments will be served. The event will take place at Champ's Clock Shop, 3834 King Drive.

    This intensive two-day grant proposal workshop is geared towards those who wish to strengthen their grant writing skills, as well as beginners who wish to acquire and master the techniques of preparing and writing winning proposals to various funding agencies.     The 11th annual Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival is happening on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Douglas County Courthouse in Douglasville, GA. This nationally-recognized festival has a number of events and exhibits, many of which are free. Mail boxes, lamp posts, doors, etc. are decorated with hydrangea-colored ribbons, flowers, and wreaths. Free shuttles are provided for in-town events. Free parking is provided at Douglas County High School, the Courthouse located on Hospital Drive, and the downtown parking garage.
