Xpress Bus Service
The Georgia State Roads and Tollway Authority (SRTA) offers Xpress bus service between Douglas County and downtown Atlanta and midtown Atlanta Monday through Friday. Buses leave from and return to the Douglas County Transportation Center at 8800 Dorris Road in Douglasville (behind the courthouse). For more information on this service, go to www.XpressGA.com and click on the information for Route 463.
Some metro Atlanta sites are not served by Connect Douglas vanpools or Xpress bus service. For commuters who travel to these locations, Connect Douglas offers a free matching service to help with forming carpools.
Fixed Route Bus Service (Coming)
Douglas County plans to have fixed route bus service and complimentary ADA paratransit service in operation by the end of March 2019. Four routes are being planned: 1. Downtown Douglasville and North Douglasville. 2. Douglas Boulevard, Stewart Parkway, Chapel Hill Road and Hospital Drive. 3. Thornton Road south of I-20 and Riverside Parkway. 4. A route that will connect the two Douglasville routes with the Thornton Road/Riverside route and will also connect with Cobb LINC Route 30 to offer service to the H.E. Holmes MARTA station. The routes and stops along the routes are still in development. Cutaways, or "mini-buses" that carry a driver and 14 passengers will be used for the service. A series of public meetings will be held later this Fall to provide more information on the days and time of service and cost.
Transportation Voucher Program
Connect Douglas offers a Transportation Voucher Program for senior adults and disabled individuals. The purpose of the Voucher Program is to assist senior adults, age 60 and over, and disabled individuals, age 19 to 59, in paying for "quality of life" trips for purposes such as shopping, entertainment and visiting with friends and family. The seniors and disabled who are approved to participate in the program contact designated transportation providers directly to arrange trips and pay for them using vouchers they purchase at a highly discounted rate from the Mobility Coordinator who is a member of the Connect Douglas staff. The Voucher Program offers assistance to seniors and the disabled with planning trips, particularly trips that offer a connection with a neighboring transportation provider such as MARTA or Cobb LINC. Connect Douglas is also recruiting local transportation providers including taxi companies, van services and non-emergency medical transportation services to participate in the Voucher Program. Seniors, disabled individuals and transportation providers who would like more information about the Voucher Program can contact Mobility Coordinator Lawanda Jones at 770-920-7437 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
