Roberts was on the Smyrna Planning and Zoning Board in Smyrna from 2013 until last October and participated in the city's Comprehensive Plan update. He has been an active member of the legislative committee of the Georgia Transit Association (GTA) and is a Board Member for Enoch Ministries in Pine Mountain, Ga, an organization that counsels and provides therapy for troubled and autistic children.

Born in Austell, Ron grew up in Powder Springs and Mableton until high school when his parents moved to Pine Mountain, Ga where they still reside. He has fond memories of living in Mableton and going out to Charlie Brown airport, where his dad was an air traffic controller, and meeting various bands flying in to play at Six Flags.

A lover of all music he also enjoys history and is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and sporting clays.

Roberts lives in Smyrna, Georgia with his wife Carmen and six-year-old daughter, Emma.
