19TH ANNUAL DOUGLAS COUNTY VETERANS DAY LIGHTED PARADE NOW ACCEPTING ENTRY APPLICATIONS

Douglasville, Georgia- The 19th Annual Douglas County Veterans Day Lighted Parade titled "The Parade with a Purpose," will make its way through the streets of Douglasville to honor all of our veterans, active duty and reserve military personnel on the night of Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2018.

This notable parade presents the opportunity for Douglas County residents to show appreciation to those who made the commitment to fight and protect the freedom of our country. Veteran groups, active units, reserve units and JROTC members are invited to participate in the annual occasion. The Douglas County Communications and Community Relations Department is now accepting applications for this special lighted night time event.

Any veteran who wishes to participate in the parade is invited to register through the Douglas County Communications & Community Relations Department. If any veteran wishes to enter a vehicle, this individual just needs to register. The parade will feature a trolley in which any active, reserve, or veteran will be able to ride during the parade. No reservations to ride the trolley are necessary.

All parade units should be decorated, preferably with lights for the night parade. The parade begins at 7 p.m. from Douglas County High School; proceeds north on Campbellton Street; west on Church Street; and then south on Bowden, Woodrow and Campbellton Street, back to the high school. A performance area for high school bands and drill teams has been designated on Campbellton Street between Spring and Church Street.

All parade units are encouraged to honor and salute the United States Flag, veterans, reserve and active military. Businesses and organizations are welcome to be in the parade. Logos may be displayed; however, each entry must meet the parade purpose, and no promotional materials for the business or organization may be distributed. No political candidates, signage or campaigning is allowed in the parade.

There is no cost associated with the parade. However, all entries must fill out a written application and have prior approval from the Douglas County Communications Department. Applications may be obtained by visiting the Douglas County website at www.CelebrateDouglasCounty.com and clicking on the Veterans Day Parade icon on the home page. You can also obtain an application by emailing dctv23@co.douglas.ga.us or and application by calling 770-920-7303.
