Living. Growing. Prospering.
Douglasville, Ga. - Douglas County Board of Commissioners Chairman, Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, has released the 2019 Douglas County Report Card which highlights the latest information on several key bench marks of how Douglas County is performing. According to the report card, the year-end unemployment rate is down to 3.4 % from the year before at 4.5 %. The median household income in Douglas County now stands at $65,012 up from the year before at $59,333.
There has been a substantial growth in new occupational tax business licenses applied for and granted in Douglas County, increasing to 498 in 2018 from 442 in 2017.
A topic of discussion for many citizens and the Board of Commissioners is the conditions of roads in Douglas County. There were 84 roads repaved in 2017; however, 2018 was a record-breaking year for rainfall and the Douglas County Department of Transportation paved approximately 40 streets. "It's important for everyone to know that roads remaining on the 2018 repaving list will rollover into 2019," Chairman Jones said. "Yet, a simultaneously work plan is being implemented to ensure scheduled repaving for 2019 goes as planned without overlap delays."
