Douglasville, GA - April 30, 2019 marks the 44th anniversary date of the end of the Vietnam War. On December 8th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., Vietnam Veterans from Douglas County were honored in a long overdue public ceremony in recognition of their military service. "It was such an honor to extend profound appreciation to my fellow veterans who served and sacrificed their lives," said Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Douglas County Commission Chairman.
The Vietnam Veteran participants were presented with the State's Certificate of Honor and the Defense Department's Commemorative Lapel Pin at the Douglas County Courthouse in Citizens Hall. The special occasion transpired as a collaborative effort between Douglas County Commission Chairman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Douglasville Mayor Rochelle Robinson, State Senator Donzella James and Veterans Service Commissioner Mike Roby.
