Douglasville, GA – The Douglas County Communications and Community Relations Department through the Douglas County Board of Commissioners would like to notify all motorists traveling through Douglas County, Georgia that I-20 East bound / West bound lanes near Chapel Hill Rd/Exit 36 are now open .
Eastbound/Westbound lanes of I-20 in Douglas County near Chapel Hill Road exit were closed earlier in the day due to down powerlines.
Word of the traffic incident began when a Douglas County E-911 operator received a call from a passing motorist around 1:21 p.m. The caller reported seeing a down utility pole near the Douglas Blvd exit on the I-20 east bound lanes. Moments after a flurry of calls came into the E-911 Center reporting power lines down in both directions. The City of Douglasville Police department and the Douglas County Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter.
Georgia Power is investigating the cause of down utility pole. There were no injuries reported.
