Motorists should expect traffic delays...

WHAT: Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close two westbound lanes and a shoulder on I-20 for patching in preparation for deep milling, inlay and resurfacing on the interstate. These activities are needed to improve the deteriorating condition of the roadway.

WHEN: Monday, May 19, through Thursday, May 23.

Weather permitting, the overnight lane closures will begin on Sunday, May 19 and each night through Thursday, May 23 from 7:00 p.m. through 7:00 a.m. the following mornings.

WHERE: I-20 westbound between Lee Road and SR 5/Bill Arp Rd.

Advisory: Lane closures are needed to help ensure safety for drivers and workers, as large equipment and frequent truck movements are needed on-site for these activities. Motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds while traveling through the work zone. As always, Georgia DOT encourages motorists to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.

Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, including traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays. Callers can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In metro Atlanta, you can also request HERO assistance by calling 511.
