NEARLY 10 TONS OF PAPER SHREDDED AT THE 2019 GREAT DOUGLAS COUNTY SHREDDING EVENT

Douglasville, GA - The Great Douglas County Shredding Event sponsored by the Douglas County Communications & Community Relations Department and the Keep Douglas County Beautiful Commission was held on May 18, 2019. It was a beautiful day for the event held for the citizens of Douglas County who showed up in abundance.

More than 365 cars passed through the Douglas County Courthouse parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. "We are proud we set our goal of exceeding last year's amount of vehicles that came through of 327," said Rick Martin, Director of Communications. "This means there was around a 40 car increase this year." Members of the community made this event a success by coming through, and bringing boxes and bags full of documents to be shredded.

Nearly 10 tons of papers were shredded by the four A-1 Shredding & Recycling trucks that were on site. "By recycling that volume of paper the community helped to save 160 trees, 67,410 gallons of water, and 28 cubic yards of landfill waste" Martin said.
