Douglasville, Georgia- Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan graduated from the Georgia Academy for Economic Development during a ceremony held on November 14, 2019. Commissioner Carthan was surrounded by a number of individuals from professional and nonprofessional economic development fields including elected officials, public servants, business leaders, educators and social service suppliers. The Georgia Academy for Economic Development was created in 1993 and since its organization, thousands of professionals around the state of Georgia have received the cross sectional training. The Academy’s multi-day program, taught one day a month over a four-month period, includes training in the basics of economic and community development, plus specialized segments on business recruitment and retention, tourism product development, downtown development, planning, and other essentials for community success.

The next Region 3 Georgia Academy for Economic Development will begin in August 2020.
