Douglasville, GA - Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners and the Board of Commissioners will honor the dream and unified vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by distributing over 200 miniature planting trees to the public on Friday January 17, 2020 at the Douglas County Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
Trees are available on a first come serve basis and can be obtained in front entrance lobby area of Courthouse from 11:00 am-1pm. This tree planting initiative honoring MLK Day mark's the first time Douglas County has done this and the event is being coordinated by Keep Douglas County Beautiful.
Keep Douglas County Beautiful is also partnering with Mason Creek Middle School to distribute trees for students to plant as a service to our community in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr Day. Planting trees helps our community by reducing energy bills, increasing property values, and assisting with cleaning the air and water.
"This tree planning initiative honoring MLK Day in Douglas County is being hosted by the External Affairs/Keep Douglas County Beautiful Departments under the leadership of Director Tiffany Stewart Stanley," said Chairman Jones.
