Douglasville, Georgia- The Douglas County Chairman and Board of Commissioners would like to announce the promotion of Dawn Evers as the new Director of Purchasing. Evers is replacing Bill Peacock who recently retired in December of 2019.

Evers isn't a stranger to the Douglas County family as she has spent 13 years in the Douglas County Board of Commissioners Purchasing Department and previously held the position of Deputy Purchasing Director. Therefore, stepping into the role of director was a natural progression.

The Purchasing Director is responsible for the procurement of all materials, supplies, equipment and services required by county departments and agencies. It is also required for establishing and administering purchasing policies and defining how to obtain savings and coordinate purchasing procedures. These duties and responsibilities shouldn't present any issues for Evers due to her 30 years of work experience in procurement, finance, and accounting. She also holds a Bachelors in Business Administration, Associate in Accounting, and Masters of Business Administration with concentration in Human Resource Management.

Evers made a few remarks at the first Board of Commission Work Session of 2020 on January 6th. She expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity and how she looks forward to working in this capacity with everyone on staff.
