Douglasville, GA - Douglas County District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell III, Vice Chair and District 2 Commissioner Kelly G. Robinson and District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan are presenting a significant back to school event for the Douglas County community. All three Commissioners are collaborating to offer free school supplies and PPE supplies, along with COVID-19 testing by the Cobb & Douglas Public Health department. The event is happening at the Douglas County Courthouse at 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia 30134 on Saturday, August 8th, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. COVID-19 testing is drive thru only with required registration prior to the event.

"Although, we are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that is keeping our students away from their school building, we still want them to know we care," District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan said. "Even with virtual learning, we want them to have all the tools they need to have a successful start to this school year."

"As we know, education is an important asset for the success of our young people. Despite these unprecedented times, we want to first ensure they are equipped with all the essentials needed (i.e., pencils, notebooks, paper, book bags, etc.)," District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell III said. "Remember, it is our duty as leaders of this county to ensure a successful school year for our young people! #GreatnessWithinYou"

"Supplies and tools are invaluable during the education process, as they are the instruments that facilitate learning," Vice Chair and District 2 Commissioner Kelly G. Robinson said. "As an educator, I am pleased to participate in providing resources to the community."

For anyone who would like to participate in the COVID-19 drive thru testing, prior to the event they must register online at, which is on the flyer, and complete the questionnaire. An email address and phone number are required. Once the questionnaire is completed, choose the Douglas County Courthouse Back to School Drive site.
