  1. Communities in Schools of Douglas County


    Communities in Schools of Douglas County (CISDC) is a 501(c)(3)organization which builds partnerships that bring needed community resources into schools to help students successfully learn. CISDC programs are tailored to the needs of the schools and the students. We provide services to students at a variety of levels, including whole-school initiatives, intensive short-term services to students, and sustained services for those needing ongoing support. The local CISDC board is chaired by Dana Jones Wynn. Our mission is to champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.

  2. Giving Initiatives and Alternatives


    Giving Initiatives and Alternatives, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing educational and inspirational community programs to youth and young adults. These include workshops, classes, mentoring, wellness and community activities. A signature program is "The Boys Camp" where we give instruction in discipline, respect, responsibility, grooming, etiquette, and focus at school and at home. We also engage youth in drilling exercises to sharpen their minds along with physical training to promote regular fitness. We teach against bullying and have a "Stop the Violence" campaign, but also train youth how to defend themselves. The majority of our programs are free.

  3. Partners In Education (PIE)


    The Partners in Education encourages greater student academic designed achievement by developing partnerships between individual schools and area businesses, industries and community groups. It also involves an on-going commitment between a business and a school that grows and develops throughout the school year. The school and partner develop a comprehensive plan of action that will support and enrich the education of students, encourage and support the school staff, and recognize and reciprocate the contributions of the business partner.
