Overview:
District 3 includes the voting precincts of Bill Arp Elementary, Chapel Hill Middle, Dorsett Shoals Elementary, Factory Shoals Elementary, and Holly Springs Elementary Schools. It generally extends southward from, and including, the Chapel Hill residential subdivision and Central Church Road to the Chattahoochee River; westward to Georgia Highway 5 and the Dog River; and Eastward along Bomar, Pope, Lake Monroe and Mount Vernon Roads to Sweetwater Creek.
Professional - 1970 - 2001: Delta Air Lines - aircraft mechanic, maintenance foreman, Manager - Development and Learning for 11,000 employees; started Delta University (on-site college degree program); managed FAA Safety Awards Program for Delta
Personal - Married 43 years to high school sweetheart, Peggy
- Three children: Angelle, a teacher; Michael, Jr., engineer; and Nicholas, law enforcement; four grandchildren and one great grandchild
Community - 1997 - 2005: Founder and President of Friends of Douglas County, a citizen advocacy group focused on the quality of life issues of the County's citizens
- 2004: Established the Douglas County Greenway Trail Alliance to develop a network of multi-use trails throughout the County
- 2002: Worked to acquire funding for the Senior Center, Fire/EMS, Roads, Parks and Recreation, and Green Space Acquisition through the SPLOST
- 1999: Graduate of Leadership Douglas
