Overview:
Tarenia Carthan is a native of Atlanta and holds a Computer Information Systems degree and a Bachelor of Science degree as a graduate of Atlanta Christian College. Married 24 years to Tony, they have 4 beautiful girls. As the CEO of Elohim Consultants, a health technology-consulting firm established in 2005, Carthan has served in the healthcare and technology sectors for over 20 years. Her dedication to excellence in the medical and technology field may be seen in her philanthropic work that includes co-founding the Angels N Tech/Angels N Me Foundation which was created to benefit young girls and encourage them to pursue careers in (STEAM) science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. In recognition of her work in the field, Tarenia was recognized as an Outstanding Entrepreneur by Who's Who in Black Atlanta in 2012 and is also the former Chairman of the Healthcare Committee of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women.

Carthan is an ordained minister and serves as a Deaconess at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church. She loves working in her community as a member of Democratic Women of Douglas County and the Douglas County Democratic Committee. She is a proud member Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and serves as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels at the Douglas County Senior Services department. In 2016, Carthan was selected as a member of both the Georgia WIN Leadership and Douglas County Citizens Academy. One of her favorite quotes is by Mother Teresa; "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless".

2017 District 3 Road Paving Projects
Douglas County annually applies for LMIG (local maintenance and improvement grant) funds from the State for roadway work. The State grants require a 30% local cash match.

2017 SPLOST Resurfacing Projects in District 3

A 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) was approved by the voters to begin in 2017, and part of the revenues from each year of the SPLOST will be used for resurfacing/reconstruction of roads in addition to the LMIG projects listed above.
