Overview:
The Douglas County Courthouse Gallery exists to showcase the talents of Douglas County citizens through exhibitions of the visual arts: original art, photography, sculpture, mixed media, collectibles and memorabilia. The Courthouse Gallery is the only exhibition space dedicated solely to those who live, work and play in Douglas County and their expressions of life.
Student Exhibits, January - May of each year
The first five months of each year (January - May) are dedicated to exhibitions of art from students in the Douglas County School System as selected by their art teachers.- January: High School Students, including students nominated for Governor's Honors in Art
- February: Middle School Mania - art from middle school students
- March: Youth Art Month - art from every school in the Douglas County School System
- April: Primary Colors - art from elementary school students
- May: Special Exhibit on an aspect of education
Citizen Exhibits, June - December of each year
From June - December, art, memorabilia, and collectibles from citizens are highlighted on themes chosen by the Courthouse Gallery Art Selection Committee. Citizens are invited to submit work to be juried by the Committee for the monthly exhibits
Location
The Courthouse Gallery is located on the third floor of the Douglas County Courthouse, and is open to the Public at all times the Courthouse is open. Admission to the Gallery is always free.
Exhibition Rules and Regulations
Artists selected to exhibit in the Courthouse Gallery must sign an Artist-Gallery Agreement, and exhibit in accordance with the Gallery Rules and Regulations. All submittals are juried for compliance with chosen themes.
