The Woodie Fite Senior Center is an adult recreation and educational facility for those over the age of 55, and is a part of Douglas County Senior Services that serves active adults with activities and fitness to keep seniors feeling young.

Hours of Operation

  • We open at 8:00 am. We remain open until the end of the last activity of the day. Most of the time, this means we are open Monday until 6:00 pm, 5:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and 3:30 pm on Wednesday and Friday. Please check our website for a current list of the month's classes.
(Hours subject to change for special events)

The Woodie Fite Senior Center is a beautiful facility where many friendships have been made, where people love to spend their leisure time, where individuals and couples come to learn and to exercise. Citizens, age 55 and older, find new adventures and explore the wonderful world of recreation. Maslow once said, "The greatest of all needs is the need to belong." We hope everyone who joins us will find a sense of belonging and fulfillment. Our goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of all who enter.

The Woodie Fite Center opened its doors for classes on September 6, 2005. On opening day we had already signed 513 members. Today, we service more than 6,000 members. On August 7, 2012 we broke ground on a new 5,000 square foot addition thanks to a Community Development Block Grant we received. The grand opening of the building was in January 2013 and this much needed space is being used for our growing population of members.
