The Douglas County Fire & EMS Department gave away masks, muffins and magnets at Mirror Lake Elementary School on Monday, April 12th, 2021 as part of a community service project to promote public safety.
Douglas County Commission Chairman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones and Douglas County Probate Judge Christina J. Peterson joined the effort to help promote safety during a pandemic.
Douglas County Fire Chief Roderick Jolivette led the effort to give masks, magnets and muffins to parents and students during the car rider pick up line just after 2:00 p.m.
Mirror Lake Elementary School Principal Leigh Sheffield and Assistant Principal Bianca Turner with other members of the teacher staff and a Douglas County School System Police officer helped with coordination of the flow of traffic, student departure and distribution of the masks, magnets and muffins.
Mirror Lake Elementary School opened in 2002 and is in Villa Rica, Georgia just west of Atlanta. The school has 473 students in kindergarten through 5th grade with 67 staff members.
