WHAT: Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors are scheduled to close traffic access to the Burnt Hickory Road and North County Line Road bridges over I-20 in Douglas County beginning Tuesday, June 8 for approximately 45 days. These bridge closures will provide safety for workers and drivers in the area while bridge rehabilitation activities are performed.Message boards and signage in the area will alert drivers of the closures and detour routes. Motorists are advised to reduce travel speeds and drive carefully through the area. Expect traffic delays related to these closures. This work is part of a project to repair and rehabilitate six bridges over I-20 in Douglas County. Bridge rehabilitation includes raising the structures’ vertical clearance, bridge deck preservation (with polymer overlay), painting of steel beams, joint replacement where necessary and stabilizing the superstructures and substructures WHEN: Weather and on-site conditions permitting, the closures will be installed on Tuesday, June 8. The closures and detours will remain in place approximately 45 days (at minimum, through mid-July) depending on weather and work progression. WHERE:
