[ARCHIVED] Douglas County BOC celebrate Grand Opening of Clinton Nature Preserve Trailhead

 The Douglas County Board of Commissioners and Parks and Recreation Department celebrated a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Clinton Nature Preserve Trailhead on Friday, July 23, 2021.

 The event occurred outdoors at the beautifully manicured and brand-new facility located at 8720 Ephesus Church Road, Villa Rica, Ga. 30180. Elected officials who were in attendance included Douglas County Commission Chair, Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan and District 4 Commissioner Ann Jones Guider. Vice Chairman and District 2 Commissioner Kelly G. Robinson’s legislative aide, Wendy Caudle, appeared on his behalf. 

Also, in attendance was special guest, Ms. LaVern Turner, Grants Specialist for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, who provided the application and administration process of the grant to the Parks and Recreation Department. 

The grant was a federal (Land and Water Conservation Fund) grant that was administered through the state. Lunch was provided as well as a Birds of Prey Demonstration for guests, which included a summer camp filled with children following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
