Douglas County, GA-More than 140 people received shots administered in one of the most extensive vaccination drives in Douglas County history. The vaccination drive, hosted by District One Commissioner Henry Mitchell, III, was held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home in Douglasville, Ga.
"Allow me to send a huge Thanks to the Douglas County residents. Thank you for showing up in great numbers to get vaccinated," Commissioner Mitchell said. "Because of you, we can keep our family & community safer…especially with the Holidays approaching! Also, I'm grateful for everyone that partnered with us on this Vaccination Drive. Great teamwork is the true essence of a successful event!"
District One Commissioner Henry Mitchell III partnered with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the funeral home, and Douglas-Cobb Public Health to host the event to bring the vaccine to those who would otherwise have a hard time getting vaccinated.
"We are heading in the right direction," said Dr. Janet Memark with Cobb-Douglas Public Health. "We need to continue the effort. We need to get the boosters in, and children, especially young adults, need to get vaccinated. We appreciate your assistance with getting that many people out there."
Seventy-five $100 gift cards were offered as an incentive for people to get the vaccine added to the event's success. Citizens can check the Health Department website for locations on where the vaccine is being distributed.
