During a Wednesday evening legislative meeting, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a contract with Integrated Construction and Nobility for $1,547,469.12 to renovate the fencing, the dugouts and add a wall for safety reasons at Bill Arp and Fairplay Parks. The funding for the projects will come from the 2016 SPLOST.
Integrated Construction and Nobility were also awarded a professional services contract for $1,213,618 for the development of Punkintown Nature Preserve, which will be funded with monies set aside through the general fund. Both projects were recommended and brought before the entire board by the Parks and Recreation Committee.
District Three Commissioner Tarenia Carthan will host a groundbreaking ceremony at the Punkintown Nature Preserve at 1:30 p.m. on June 30th. Anyone wanting to attend the groundbreaking on June 30th can board a Connect Douglas shuttle bus from the Douglas County Courthouse at 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA, at 1:00 p.m.
