Douglas County SPLOST Update

Douglas County SPLOST Update. Thank you to the citizens for this current SPLOST and for participating in its success. Because of you, your SPLOST revenues are outperforming original projections. We want the citizens, businesses, and stakeholders of Douglas County to know that your SPLOST dollars and projects are being appropriately managed. Don't hesitate to contact us with questions by visiting www.2016splost.com [2016splost.com] or contacting our Communications Director, David Good, at 2016splost@gmail.com.

We have several of our larger projects either completed or nearing completion: Douglas County's $16 million Public Safety Radio Systems has been completed, came in under budget, and is in service. The 18,000 SqFt Lithia Springs Senior Center and the 30,000 sq. ft. Boundary Waters Activity Center are complete and active with programming. Traffic goers will be happy to know that street lights are being installed throughout the County, along with intersection improvements and traffic light installments at identified intersections. Streetlights have been installed at each intersection along I-20.

Major projects like the long-awaited replacement of the Whitestone Culvert on White Stone Boulevard, the driveway of the transfer station, the Tennis Courts at Deer Lick Park, and concessions at Bill Arp, Fair Play, and Boundary Waters have been completed. Other projects are in some form of the procurement process, scope process, design process, or construction process. They include yearly paving of thoroughfares throughout the County, improving traffic congestion on Hwy 5 @ Douglas Blvd, procuring Ladder trucks, Tanker Trucks, and Fire Engines, and replacing the fencing and dugouts at Bill Arp Park & FairPlay Park.

Several large projects like the widening of Lee Rd from just south of I-20 to SR92/Fairburn Rd,  the renovations at Fire Station #4/ Fairplay, the improvements of Fire Station #11, the designing of a new four-bay Fire Station #9 on Douglas Hill @ SR6 and upgrading the intersection of Stewart Mill Rd at Reynolds road are now underway. You can see the projects that are underway and all the projects that have been completed by viewing the monthly reports on our website. Most of these ongoing projects have local vendor and minority-owned vendor participation. Because of your participation, there are over 30 active projects, and more than 65 projects have been completed.
