Douglas County Fire & EMS Wants Douglas County to Be Weather Ready
Douglas County, GA - The National Weather Service has informed Douglas County that a strong to severe line of storms associated with a strong cold front is expected to impact north and central Georgia Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening on January 12, 2023. The pending storms are expected to impact Douglas County, Georgia, in a few possible ways.
- Damaging wind gusts (up to 60 mph)
potential to bring down trees and powerlines.
- A few isolated tornadoes
- Frequent lightning
- Winds will increase Thursday morning and afternoon before the line of storms.
- Wind gusts of 30-40 mph are expected before the storms arrive
- Higher wind gusts could bring down trees and powerlines
“We encourage anyone who suffers a power outage to use flashlights instead of candles to prevent the risk of fire,” said Rick Martin, Fire & EMS Public Information Director. “This is the time we encourage everyone to have plenty of extra batteries on-hand.”
