DOUGLAS COUNTY DISTRICT 3 COMMISSIONER CARTHAN AND SPLENDORS OF AFRICA TO HOLD DRIVE-THRU TURKEY GIVEAWAY
Douglasville, Georgia- Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan and non-profit organizations Splendors of Africa and Families Ties, Inc. are holding a drive thru turkey giveaway event on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Douglas County Courthouse parking lot. Cobb & Douglas Public Health will also be on site to provide free COVID-19 testing and Families Ties Inc. will be giving away PPE supplies at the event.
Community advocate Stephen Thomas, who heads the Splendors of Africa organization, reached out to provide free turkeys to Douglas County residents in need this holiday season. This has been quite an unusual year with the Coronavirus Pandemic and the goal of the event is to unite as a community to help our neighbors during these unprecedented times.
For COVID-19 testing, please visit https://covid19.dph.ga.gov/en-US/ and complete the questionnaire. Once you complete the questionnaire, you are registered for testing. You do not have to choose a location. If you do not have an email address, use firstname.lastname@noemail.com. Note: Free flu shots are available for uninsured adults, registration is not required.
This event is drive-thru only; therefore, please stay in your vehicle for the turkey giveaway and testing. The Douglas County Courthouse is located at 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
