Douglas County to Host First Virtual Public Meeting to Discuss Future Transportation Needs
Douglas County to Update Its 2009 Comprehensive Transportation Plan
(Douglas County, GA) On Thursday, December 3, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Douglas County will host its first virtual public meeting to begin discussions regarding the Douglas County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) update.
The Douglas County CTP was last updated in 2009. The CTP update effort is in collaboration with the municipalities of Austell, Douglasville, and Villa Rica along with state and regional partner agencies including, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), the Atlanta Transit Link Authority (ATL), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA), and State Road and Toll Authority (SRTA).

Since the 2009 CTP was completed, Douglas County has experienced significant changes. Specifically, by the year 2050, Douglas County’s population is expected to increase by approximately 27% (roughly 41,000 more residents). The change in population density will impact transportation demands in the county.
