  • Midway Christian Academy Open Enrollment

    Thursday, August 6 - Monday, August 10:

    Midway Christian Academy is now enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year, which will begin on August 10, 2020. Midway Christian Academy are a half day private preschool, with classes Monday and Thursday for toddlers who are 1 year old by September 1, 2020; preschool classes for 2 and 3 year olds three or five days per week; and a well recognized Pre-K program for children who are 4 years old by September 1st.   • CAC: Art Swap Exhibit

    Thursday, August 6 - Thursday, August 27:

    Come view a showcase of artwork from Carrollton's guild that would usually be displayed a town away, while our local Guild displays their work at the Carrollton Cultural Art Center. It's an Art Swap between guilds Gallery admission and tour are free. If you’re interested in a special gallery tour, please call the CAC to schedule an appointment.

  • CAC: Pop Up Arts Shop Featuring Shelia Hankins

    Our August POP UP ARTS SHOP featuring Sheila Hankins is the place for amazing one-of-a-kind gifts created by local artists. Each month we will feature a different artist that works with varying mediums. Be sure to stop by the CAC for some amazing arts and crafts before they’re gone!   • CAC: A Tiny Fundraiser

  • Low Cost Vaccine Clinic and Food Distribution

    Saturday, August 8, 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.:

    The Douglas County Animal Services is hosting a Low Cost Vaccine Clinic and Food Distribution on Saturday, August 8th from 9am - 2pm. This event is sponsored by Midwest Veterinary Supply, Atlanta Humane Society, Merck Animal Health, and Douglas County Humane Society. All participants must show proof of Douglas County residency. There's also a capacity of 200 animals.

  • Commissioners Back to School Giveaway

    Saturday, August 8, 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.:

    Join District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell, III, District 2 Commissioner Kelly Robinson, and District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan on August 8th from 10 am to 12 pm for their Back to School Book Bag Giveaway at the Douglas County Courthouse. The event will be offering free school supplies, PPE supplies, and COVID-19 testing from Cobb and Douglas Public Health for kids and adults. The testing is drive thru by registration only. However, for the Back to School Giveaway, citizens can open their trunk or walk up to receive supplies.

    Douglas County Board of Commissioners to meet through a videoconference. Douglas County continues to respond to COVID-19 with guidance from Cobb & Douglas Public Health to reduce the risk to the community, elected officials and employees. As part of those efforts, the Monday, August 17th Work Session meeting of the Board of Commissioners will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. through videoconference technology.   • BOC Special Called Meeting

    Tuesday, August 18, 10:00 a.m.:


    BOC is holding a Special Called Meeting on Millage Rate on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Meeting will be broadcasted on dctv23 and streamed on line at dctv23.com. The public is invited for public comment.

    The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2020 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 32.96 percent.

    All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. regarding this tax increase to be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.   • American Red Cross Community Blood Drive

    Thursday, August 20 - Thursday, August 20, 10:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.:

    American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive for the Douglas County Community at Hunter Park's Community Center on August 20 from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment by using the sponsor code: dcchc prior to arriving at the drive. Everyone is required to wear a face covering or mask while at the drive in alignment with new CDC public guidelines. Also, the American Red Cross has begun testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies.

  • Hollis Street Jamboree

    Saturday, September 12, 1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.:

    The Douglasville Police Department, in partnership with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, is sponsoring a Jamboree at our “House of Hope” located at 8304 Hollis Street, Douglasville, GA, on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 1pm - 6pm. The Jamboree will include information from several surrounding county resources, a Spades tournament, balloon animals, kids activities, food, music, and more. There will be something to do for everyone. This is a free event! Please adhere to social distancing guidelines and bring masks. Parking will be available at Simpson’s Mortuary adjacent to the event.
